FEES / CHARITY WORK

Fee Structure

Since setting up Consilius in 2004, David has put aside, on average, one day per week for charity work. This represents over 300 voluntary hours per year and is only made possible by the generosity of his Corporate clients.

Consilius maintains a strong ethical stance regarding its fee structure which is based simply on an organisation's ability to pay. These fees, which are available on request, allow David to volunteer for the following charities:

The British Red Cross for which David has been a volunteer for 30 years as an Emergency Response Team Leader and Tutor, as well as fundraising and supporting major First Aid events such as the Great North Run. During this time he has attended many Major Incidents including flooding, fires and utility leaks and outages plus the aftermath of terrorist attacks. These events lead him to create the British Red Cross Emergency Response In Cumbria initiative which is designed to enhance their response to future incidents. In 2010, he was part of the British Red Cross Team presented with several awards for their Flood Response and Recovery work in Cumbria and was awarded the Badge of Honour for Outstanding Service for this and his fundraising activities. In 2013 he presented a paper to the national British Red Cross Resilience Conference in London and in 2015 was heavily involved in the emergency response to Storm Desmond. David has raised in excess of £12,000 for the charity and was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2019 Queen's New Year Honours List for his "Fundraising, First Aid and Emergency Response voluntary work for the British Red Cross". David continues to volunteer today as part of the Psychosocial Support Team who are part of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Rapid Deployment Team and help British Nationals affected by emergencies overseas.

North West Ambulance Service Community First Responders are volunteers who attend serious and life threatening 999 calls in and around rural communities to provide the earliest possible intervention for patients until the arrival of a paramedic. David has been a CFR since 2002, attending over 800 callouts and in 2013 re-qualified with extended skills. He is also a Team Leader, Field Trainer and has represented the County on the Ambulance Service's Forum.

The British Heart Foundation's Heartstart initiative which as an Instructor since 2003, David has trained many rural communities in Emergency Life Support, including CPR and the use of a Defibrillator, skills which can help someone keep a casualty alive in a life-threatening emergency until professional help arrives.

Alder Hey Children's Hospital's Charity is close to David's heart and he has on several occasions over the last 25 years, raised money and facilitated strategy workshops for the trustees and fundraising team, helping them to identify their future aspirations and develop prioritised action plans.

Motor Neurone Disease Association took the life of a friend from the adventurous activity community aged just 51. David and his son Joe completed a "Climb for Chris" in 2019 by ascending the highest peak in North Africa, Mount Toubkal, 4167m, raising over £5000 for the MNDA.
